'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the thrilling final moments of his team's epic comeback victory against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a fan's glasses after the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range shot from outside the box, and his teammate immediately hammered in the loose ball before racing off toward the crowd to celebrate, with the crowd swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The result capped an incredible turnaround given the team had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the latter period. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter shouting out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win booked a fourth-round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. Galbraith had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right flank after they changed tactics. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the attacker was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way Orient attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and concentration just to remain competitive."

Swansea Move

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and fought off rivals to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a fans' favourite across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at lower division Salford, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a slightly green going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for club and country, performing well for his national side, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including both legs fixtures against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Early Days

It has been an incredible journey for the kid from the local area in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who was raised observing his father, his father, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the host city, where they competed on an plastic turf and the stadium roof was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was freezing," he comments, grinning. "The week before, several youth players and I trained together, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged 16? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I understood I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it got to the point where I felt I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually climbing the ladder."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Before his recent move to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a minibus driven by team personnel, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, the midfielder – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's nice to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Leyton Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
